Mbombela (Nelspruit) – The Hawks are looking for 29-year-old Zola Martin Mnisi and 31-year-old Mpendulo Absima Hassane in connection with a cash-in-transit robbery in Mpumalanga.
The cash-in-transit heist took place on 11 August 2023.
Recalling the heist and the subsequent search for the wanted suspects, Hawks Spokesperson Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi said: “About 15 km from the N4, an armoured vehicle was rammed by a C-class Mercedes Benz.
“The driver of the cash van lost control and it overturned.
“The armoured was bombed and an undisclosed amount of money was stolen.”
Captain Sekgotodi said the ensuing investigation led to the arrest of seven suspects – including three former Mpumalanga police officers attached to the flying squad.
The arrested suspects remain in custody after bail was successfully opposed by the Hawks.
“During the investigation, more accused were linked to the crime, and several exhibits inclusive of stolen motor vehicles, illegal firearms, bulletproof vests, and explosives were seized,” said Captain Sekgotodi.
Further investigation linked Hassane of Lekazi suburb, Kanyamazane, in Mpumalanga, to the cash-in-transit robbery.
Hassane is wanted alongside Mnisi, of Swalala Trust in Mpumalanga, whose image has been previously circulated on several media platforms as a wanted person. Mnisi remains on the run.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Hassane and Mnisi is asked to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Albert De Lange on 071 481 2815.
Information received will be handled confidentially, said Captain Sekgotodi.
