Filipino bantamweight Kenneth Egano has died, four days after his eight-round points win at the Imus Sports Gymnasium in Cavite, Philippines.
Boxing News said it was “saddened” to learn of the 22-year-old’s death, adding “Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in peace.”
Boxing News reports that on Saturday, (6 May 2023), the Filipino from General Santos City boxed in an eight-round bout against Jason Facularin.
Egano won on points but collapsed in his corner during the announcement of the result at the Imus Sports Gymnasium, Cavite in the Philippines.
Egano was taken from the venue to the Imus Doctors Hospital, where he was placed into a coma after a brain haemorrhage was discovered.
Sadly, Egano died four days later.

Pacquiao covered all of Egano’s medical costs but sadly the young man lost his life four days later.
On Facebook, the 23-year-old Facularin mourned the passing of his opponent.
“I didn’t expect that this will happen when we did our best. Why did it happen to us? Sorry that it happened. I hope you’re in a good place.”
The Games and Amusements Board (GAB), which oversees professional sport in the Philippines, released a statement.
“The entire GAB agency mourns the passing of professional boxer Kenneth Egano. Our condolences to Kenneth’s family, relatives and friends. May his soul rest in peace,” said the statement.
