Durban – A truck, minibus taxis, and at least 45 other cars have been involved in a massive collision along the M41 East Bound in Umhlanga Ridge, Durban.
The multiple collision occurred at 07:40 Monday.

Emergency responders including ALS Paramedics, Netcare 911, Emer-G-Med Paramedics, SA Police Service officials, and Ethekwini Fire and Rescue were on the scene.
Initial reports indicate that an out-of-control truck ploughed through morning traffic.

“Medics assessed the scene and found 22 patients, who had sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor injuries,” said Shawn Herbst, Netcare 911 spokesperson.
“Many patients had been transported privately prior to the arrival of emergency services.”
ALS Paramedics said a pregnant motorist suffered serious injuries.
She was treated and stabilised on the scene before being airlifted with the assistance of the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to a specialist facility for the definitive care that she required.
Emer-G-Med Paramedics said: “At this point it is unconfirmed what substance the truck was hauling. The Ethekwini Fire Department have secured the scene until confirmation is made that it is safe”.
The number of cars crashed into has been revised from 30 to 45 and emergency services confirmed that not a single fatality had resulted from the multiple crashes.
