Johannesburg – Struggling Marumo Gallants FC has appointed former Swallows Coach Dylan Kerr in an advisory position as coaching consultant.
Announcing the development, the club said: “Marumo Gallants have appointed an interim technical consultant.
“Seasoned football coach Dylan Kerr will fill an advisory position as a consultant, with assistant coach Raymond Mdaka filling in as interim head coach.”
With only 2 wins in 10 games, the club at the bottom of 16-team the DStv Premiership log has placed Head Coach Dan Malesela on “special leave”.
Commenting on the club’s poor run, Malesela who insists he is still employed by Marum Gallants, told Sowetan LIVE: “With the resources we have, we have little and cannot move forward.
“I had to take players from the bench. Some were not even registered but I had to patch things up.
“I’ve never had the privilege of resources on any club or budget.”
Coaching a football team can be a poisoned chalice.
All indications are that Malesela is going to be the first coach fired this year in the DStv Premiership.
