Johannesburg – A spurned lover has surfaced after pictures of Johannesburg Mayor Dr. Mpho Phalatse and her beau Brutus Malada during a “private matrimonial ceremony” circulated on social media.
TimesLive is reporting that Ntaka Tshifaro who was “on the verge of marrying Malada says she was shocked when she came across pictures on social media of him tying the knot with Joburg Mayor Mpho Phalatse”.
The publication says Tshifaro said Malada – who is described as a political strategist, research consultant, and public figure – had paid lobola for her last year.
Tshifaro said she moved out of their home in Sandton, Johannesburg, in September, and had suspected there was another woman in his life.

However, a terse communique from Dr. Phalatse’s mayoral office on Tuesday confirmed that: “Over the weekend Dr. Mpho Phalatse and Mr. Brutus Malada held a private matrimonial ceremony in Venda, presided over by Pastor Lufuno Nemovhola”.
The communique added: “The soulmates are happy to begin a new life and grow old together. The date for a public ceremony will be announced soon.
“It is unfortunate that pictures of this private occasion were leaked on social media.
“Given that this was and remains a private matter, no further comment will be provided by Executive Mayor Phalatse, the Office of the Executive Mayor, or Mr. Malada.
“We wish them a prosperous and successful marriage.”
