Al Khor – Ecuador beat host Qatar 2-0 to win the opening game of the World Cup on Sunday night at the Al Bayt stadium in Al Khor, Qatar.

Captain Enner Valencia for Ecuador scored both goals in the first half. He hobbled off with a knee injury in the second half.

Valencia could have walked off with a hattrick, but the first time he had the ball in the Qatar net, just three minutes from kickoff, it didn’t count because it was ruled as offside.
