Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis has been named the CAF Women’s Coach of the Year.

The outstanding coach won the accolade on Thursday night.

It was the third time in succession the South African women’s football coach won the coveted award.

Banyana Banyana are in the  2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) finals where they will face hosts Morocco at the weekend. The WAFCON final is on Saturday.

South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns was named CAF Women’s Team of the Year.

However, Thursday night was not so good for former Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane, who appeared miffed at missing out on the CAF coach of the year.

African Player of The Year Sadio Mane’s Senegal were crowned Men’s National Team of the Year winners while Senegal coach Aliou Cisse won Men’s Coach of the Year.

CAF Champions League winners Wydad Casablanca swept the men’s club of the year award.
