In a statement issued by the spokesperson, Oupa Segalwe, the Public Protector South Africa (PPSA) said it “has noted the recent developments concerning the Parliamentary Section 194 process in terms of which the President suspended the Public Protector on Thursday”.

The statement added: “Following this development, the PPSA wishes to allay any uncertainty regarding interruption of services among stakeholders, including those who may have lodged complaints with the institution and those against whom investigations are pending.”

Deputy Public Protector Advocate Gcaleka has been appointed Acting Public Protector following Advocate Mkhwebane’s suspension,.

“We wish to reassure stakeholders that we continue to do our work with utmost integrity,” said Gcaleka.
