Mpumalanga Police on Sunday said two more suspects had been arrested in connection with the murder of 28-year-old Hillary Gardee.
Hillary – the daughter of former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) secretary general Godrich Gardee – was reported missing a week ago and was found dead on Tuesday with a bullet wound to the head.
Hillary was laid to rest in Nelspruit (Mbombela) on Saturday, 7 May 2022.
“So far three suspects have been arrested. This comes after the arrest of two men in Nelspruit between yesterday late night and early hours of the morning,” said SA Police Service Mpumalanga Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela.
“This is encouraging and as we indicated that there were other people of interest that we were following and interviewing.
“Through our investigation, which is still proceeding, we were able to come out with information that we fully believe the two are the right suspects.”
The pair who were arrested overnight are to join the 39-year-old suspect arrested on Friday in Schoemansdal (Nkomazi) in court.
All three will appear in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court, Mpumalanga, on Monday to face murder and other charges.
“As earlier indicated, more suspects may be arrested as the intensive investigation proceeds into the murder of the 28-year-old,” said General Manamela.
The EFF said at the weekend that it will accompany the Gardee family to the court.
