Two Shot Dead, ANC Says Eastern Cape Conference Still Going Ahead

The African National Congress (ANC) on Tuesday said it was going ahead with the Eastern Cape Provincial Conference at the weekend after two of its members were shot dead.

ANC Nelson Mandela Bay Ward councillor Andile Andries and the regional executive committee member Lubabalo Keso were shot dead on Monday.

The fatal shootings occurred outside Andries’ home.

However, the ANC in the Eastern Cape said it will hold its 9th Provincial Conference over two days at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) in Buffalo City Metro from 6 to 8 May 2022.

The ANC said the matter of the fatal shootings was being handled by law enforcement agencies.

Police spokesperson for the province Brigadier Thembinkosi Kinana said the murders were under investigation.
