Boxer Kevin Lerena Floors Bigger Man To Win WBA Intercontinental Title

South African boxer Kevin Lerena beat Romanian Bogdan Dinu on Saturday at the Palace Of Dreams to win the heavyweight WBA intercontinental belt.

The South African who was fighting as a heavyweight for the first time knocked out the bigger Dinu with a barrage of hard punches in the fourth round.

Lerena, a former undefeated IBO cruiserweight champion, had promised a fifth round knockout, said after the fight that he “wasn’t far off” and warned the world’s 10 heavyweights that he was coming after them.

At 35, Dinu looked slow and disorganised – at one point he forgot his gumshield and the ref had to stop the fight.
One thing he won’t forget is the number of times he tasted the canvas.
