Nicol Kidman, Will Smith, Win Golden Globe Awards Amid Media Blackout

Voiced by Amazon Polly

Amid a media blackout, Nicole Kidman has bagged her sixth Golden Globe in a fiercely contested race for Best Actress.

Nicole won the Best Actress award for her prolific performance in her popular biopic, Being the Ricardos.

American-born Australian actress and producer dedicated her award to Lucille Ball and all the other women nominated with her.

The winners were revealed in a muted ceremony that took place behind closed doors on Sunday.

Last year the Hollywood Foreign Press Association criticised the Golden Globe Awards over their lack of diversity.

It was also revealed the Hollywood Foreign Press Association responsible for voting for Golden Globe nominees and winners, had no Black members at all.

The association has since admitted 23 new members.

In May, last year, NBC said it wasn’t going to broadcast the awards.

Not surprisingly Will Smith scored the Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his powerful performance in King Richard.

Andrew Garfield and Rachel Zegler also took home awards.

In the movie categories, the big winner was Benedict Cumberbatch-starring The Power of the Dog, a Western that won three awards: best picture (drama), best director for Jane Campion and best supporting actor for Kodi Smit-McPhee.

Steven Spielberg’s musical West Side Story had a similarly good night, winning best picture (musical or comedy), best actress in a motion picture (musical or comedy) for Rachel Zegler and best supporting actress in a motion picture for Ariana DeBose.
