Johannesburg Mayor Dr. Mayor Mpho Phalatse on Monday announced her long-awaited 10-person mayoral committee.
The new mayoral committee is made up of four Democratic Alliance (DA) members, three ActionSA members, one each from the IFP, FF+ and the ACDP.
Julius Malema’s Economic Freedom Fighters and the African National Congress – led by President Cyril Ramaphosa, do not have members in the new mayoral committee to run Johannesburg.
Announcing the 10 committee members Dr. Phalatse said the new multi-party mayoral committee was finally agreed to after weeks of negotiations between political parties to bring a stable government in the City of Johannesburg.
The new mayoral team:
Julie Suddaby (DA) – Finance
Leah Knott (DA) – Group Corporate and Shared Services
Funzela Ngobeni (ActionSA) – Transport
Belinda Echeozonjoku (DA) – Development and Planning
Mlungisi Providence Mabaso (IFP) – Housing
Nkuli Mbundu (ActionSA) – Economic Development
Franco De Lange (FF+) – Health and Social Development
Ronald Winston Harris (ACDP) – Community Development
Michael Sun (DA) – Environment and Infrastructure Service Delivery
David Thembe (ActionSA) – Public Safety
