Cops Recover Fake Sneakers Worth Millions At Lebombo

Fake footwear with a street value of about R4 million has been intercepted by South African authorities at the Lebombo Border and a 37-year-old truck driver has been arrested.

Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said police at the border post stopped and searched a truck that was coming from Mozambique on Thursday evening of Thursday, 11 December 2021.

The police found counterfeit sneakers worth “R3.8 million stashed in the truck”.

Brigadier Mohlala said the truck driver, who is a Zimbabwean national, was arrested and charged for possession of counterfeit goods.

The suspect is due to appear in the Komatipoort Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 December 2021.C
