The family of suspended Mojo Love’s Uyajola 999 host Jub Jub accused of multiple rapes at the weekend refuted the allegations and threatened court action against his accusers.
Jub Jub’s rape accusers include female actor Amanda du Pont and former Metro FM radio host Masechaba Khumalo.
“Our son, celebrated TV presenter and musician Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye and family have noted with serious concerns disparaging allegations levelled against him by Amanda Du Pont,” said a statement issued by Maarohanye family spokesperson, Andile Ngcobo.
“The claims and serious allegations by Ms. Du Pont were clearly concocted to injure and defame our son’s name which he is working hard to safeguard,” said Ngcobo.
“In as far as Ms. Masechaba Khumalo’s allegations are concerned our son has never had any romantic relationship with her instead what we know is she was pursuing our son and he turned her down,” said the Maarohanye family spokesperson.
Jub Jub’s unbridled comments about women he had been involved with on Podcast and Chill, hosted by MacG aka Macgyver Mukwevho, sparked the allegations of rape against him.
Moja Love the digital satellite television “female-skewed” channel on DSTV on Thursday suspended Jub Jub the host of Uyajola 9/9 over the rape allegations.
Du Pont has since engaged a lawyer to help her lay charges of rape against the 41-year-old television host.
On Saturday, lawyer Tony Mathe – acting for Du Pont – told SABC TV that three more women had come forward alleging that Jub Jub had raped them.
Mathe said his client was preparing to press rape charges against Jub Jub.
However, Ngcobo said Jub Jub and his management team decided to serve Du Pont, Masechaba Khumalo, Refilwe Khumalo, and Bonokuhle Nkala “with letters of demands with clear instructions that they should retract the unfounded allegations made against him, and ultimately apologise for their claims”.
Failure to do so would see Jub Jub seek legal action to clear his name, warned the Maarohanye family spokesperson.
Ngcobo said Jub Jub “will open a case of crimen injuria and defamation” against Du Pont, Masechaba Khumalo, Bonoluhle Nkala, and Refilwe Khumalo.
Ngcobo alleged Nkala and Refilwe Khumalo were pulled in “to campaign against our son by Amanda Du Pont on her social media platforms.
“Their claims have damaged our son’s reputation, infringed his rights to privacy and dignity.”
