Fans all over the world are celebrating the end of the 13-year conservatorship that had been imposed on famous US singer Britney Spears.
On Friday a California court put an end to the Gimmie More singer’s battle to take back control of her affairs from her dad, James Parnell Spears.
Britney, who turns 40 next month, can now get down like there’s no one around after years of being under the thumb of her thrifty and reportedly abusive dad.
Putting an end to the decade-plus battle to control Britney’s estimated US $70 million fortune, Judge Brenda Penny ruled: “The court finds and determines that the conservatorship of the person and the Estate of Britney Jean Spears is no longer required”.
Earlier in September, Spears – mom of two teenage sons Sean and Jayden – announced her engagement to her boyfriend Sam Asghari.
The BBC reports that Spears described the termination of a legal arrangement that controlled many aspects of her life for 13 years as “the best day ever”.
“I think I’m gonna cry,” she told her 35 million Instagram followers.
Friday’s hearing was brief and ran smoothly because all parties consented to the termination.
