A seriously injured man, who was reported missing on Saturday, has been found in a sugar cane field by a farmer in IIlovo South, Ethekwini in KwaZulu-Natal.
The man whose condition was described as serious was found sitting inside his car on Wednesday.
Commenting on the matter, Emer-G-Med said: “Earlier this afternoon paramedics were called to a sugarcane plantation in IIlovo South, by ET Rapid Response, after a farmer discovered a vehicle on his farm”.
Security officers found the man seated in the vehicle “in a serious condition.”
Emer-G-Med said paramedics stabilised the injured man before he was airlifted with the assistance of the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to a nearby specialist facility for further care.
“It is believed the man has been reported missing since Saturday last week,” said Emer-G-Med.
Police are investigating events that led to the man’s disappearance and how he ended up injured in a sugar cane field.
Some media reports have identified the man as Werner de Jager, the husband of murdered Dutch Reform Church pastor Liezel de Jager.
