In-form Kaizer Chiefs star Keagan Dolly has been rewarded for his brilliant start to the 2021-2022 DSTV Premiership season with a recall to the Bafana Bafana squad.
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder was on Tuesday named in the 23-man Bafana Bafana provisional squad for the in the remaining 2022 Fifa World Cup Group G qualifiers against Ghana and neighbours Zimbabwe.
Dolly has not featured for South Africa since March when Bafana Bafana failed to qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The team’s failure to qualify for next year’s continental showpiece cost the then Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki his job.
New Bafana coach Hugo Broos initially overlooked Dolly for the team’s first four World Cup qualifying matches, but has decided to recall him due to his blistering form at Chiefs.
The former Montpellier winger has scored three goals and provided three assists in eight league matches this season for Amakhosi.
His experience and good form will make him a valuable addition for Bafana, who need to beat Zimbabwe at home on November 11 and get a point away against Ghana on November 11 to reach the final playoff round of the World Cup qualifiers.
Bafana Bafana last played in the World Cup when they were hosts in 2010.
