Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday scored four goals against Chippa with no reply to give the chairman Kaizer Motaung a fantastic 77th birthday gift.
Lately, goals had been hard to come by for the AmaKhosi, and winning looked like a distant dream.
But all that changed on Saturday, Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly lit up FNB Stadium with their passing and movement off the ball.
Even with no fans in the calabash, Chiefs were highly motivated. Phathutshedzo Nange was efficient in the middle.
He cut off Chippa’s forward motion and put the visitors on the backfoot with his defence splitting passes.
Dolly scored a brace, while Kharma and substitute Lazarous Kambole scored a goal each.
Kambole’s goal was his first in more than 40 appearances for the AmaKhosi.
Chippa had all the chances in the first half to score, but they lacked composure. The second half wasn’t any different.
Chippa coach Gavin Hunt put the loss down to bad defending and wasteful forwards.
