Fired Mpumalanga agriculture MEC Mandla Msibi – who faces two counts of murder and attempted murder – was in the dock Thursday at the Mbombela Magistrate’s Court, where his bail hearing was adjourned.
Msibi has been in custody since he handed himself over to the police on Monday.
A series of delays – including a bomb scare on Wednesday – have seen the bail matter drag on.
While the 45-year-old politician has been locked up in jail, the African National Congress stripped him of all his leadership positions.
Msibi faces two murder charges and one attempted murder charge related to a shooting in August at a Mbombela braai spot.
Police erected a razor-wire outside the court to prevent crowds from getting too close to the building as they had done on Wednesday.
Inside the court, evidence was led in vernacular by the investigation officer, who required a translator.
Magistrate Suzan Monaledi said the bail hearing will continue on Friday. Msibi was again remanded in custody.
