Stolen Diapers, Lucky Star Tins Recovered By Cops

Police have recovered diapers and canned tinned fish worth thousands of rand from a Somali national they flagged down along George Nyanga drive in Tembisa, Johannesburg.

Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) said the Somalian was transporting the suspected stolen goods in a white Hyundai H100 in the middle of the night on Friday.

Investigations led the EMPD officers to a distribution centre west of the Tshwane metropolitan municipality.

Two more suspects were picked up at the distribution centre in connection with the recovered goods that included 566 (400g x 12) canned fish (Lucky Star) and 74 (66 x 2 packs) Pampers Nappies worth about R210 000.

EMPD said they also recovered an unlicensed 12-gauge shotgun (Protecta) and bullets from a security guard at the distribution centre.

All the arrested suspects will appear in court.
