Lawyer Bailed In Mauritius, Now Wanted In SA

South African lawyer Anton Coetzee of the law firm Thinane Du Toit – who was arrested last month in Mauritius on suspicion of embezzlement – is now wanted in his home country for similar offences.

At least three cases have been opened in South Africa against Coetzee, who was released on bail in Mauritius with strict conditions.

The lawyer has to report to the police in Mauritius every day.

Coetzee is wanted in South Africa to answer to embezzlement charges involving millions of rand.

Multiple criminal cases have been opened against Coetzee at different police stations.

The police stations include Benoni (case number CAS 414/3/2020), Boksburg (case number CAS 487/04/2021), and Secunda (case number CAS 119/02/2021.
