The African National Congress (ANC) on Wednesday announced that it has deployed Rose Thabanchu as the executive mayor of the Matlosana Local Municipality, North West Province.
“Cde Rose brings a wealth of experience into this position as a credible and disciplined cadre of the movement and an experienced public representative in the local government sphere,” said the ANC.
“This deployment is as a consequence of rigorous and intensive interviews of three candidates that were recommended to the national structures by the IPC [ANC Interim Provincial Committee].”
The ANC said Thabanchu’s deployment was aimed at entrenching the work done by the ANC-led Motlosana Local Municipality.
Thabanchu was also expected to resolve bottlenecks that are delaying service delivery.
“This work entails the expeditious rolling out of the radical socio-economic programs in the Matlosana Local Municipality,” said the ANC.
The IPC said Thabanchu was equal to the task and will be able to work with the collective of the Matlosana Local Municipal Council and the entire staff complement to deliver much-needed basic services.
Thabanchu has a University Diploma in Education, a Bachelor Degree in Education and Industrial Psychology, Honours Degree in Industrial Psychology and a Masters Degree in Development and
She has valuable experience within the ANC.
The ANC said her academic qualifications and experience as speaker of the council put her in good stead to pursue the objectives of the party.
“We once more convey our deepest appreciation to the family of the former Mayor, the late Cde Maitu Kgaile, for having shared her with us and the people of Matlosana,” said the ANC.
“May her revolutionary soul find eternal rest.
“We congratulate Cde Rose Thabanchu and wish her well on her new responsibility.
“We call on the people of Matlosana to join hands in welcoming Cde Rose Thabanchu and work with her in our primary quest to eradicate poverty, unemployment and inequality.”
