Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) officers were visible in the central business district on Tuesday, where they impounded cars that were parked illegally.
JMPD has been on a drive to enforce city by-laws.
Last month JMPD conducted a high-density by-law operation in Yeoville, Kensington, Fordsburg, Hillbrow, and Doornfontein.
The operation was to ensure that traders were complying with the City of Johannesburg bylaws and desist from overcrowding.
On Tuesday vehicles parked in an area not demarcated for parking were impounded and taken to a pound.
At the corners of Mooi and Kerk Street in the CBD JMPD officers were seen impounding a vehicle they said was obstructing the traffic.
