Schoolboy Stabbed To Death Outside Class In Alex

A Grade 8 student from Pholosho Secondary School in Alexandra, Johannesburg, was stabbed to death by another schoolboy.

The student was stabbed at midday while the school’s disciplinary committee was dealing with a fight that involved three other students.

The fatal incident occurred outside a classroom.

Emergency services were called and on arrival they certified the stabbed student as dead.

Late on Monday, the boy accused of the fatal stabbing arrived with his father at the Alexandra Police Station, where he handed himself over.

The 15-year-old grade eight schoolboy is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.

“Our psycho-social team will support the school, family, and all affected,” said Panyaza Lesufi, Gauteng Education MEC.

“We vehemently condemn the violent behaviour, which led to the death of a learner allegedly, at the expense of his peer on school grounds, it is absolutely unacceptable.

“The SGB must investigate this incident and take necessary disciplinary action against the perpetrator,” said Lesufi.

“We wish to convey our deepest condolences to the family of the learner.”

A few years ago, on 8 December 2019, police arrested a Pholosho Junior Secondary School pupil just over a month after he allegedly stabbed a fellow schoolboy.

Lesufi is expected to visit the school and the family of the deceased student on Tuesday.
