Percy Tau Moves To Egyptian Giants Al Ahly

Egyptian giants and African champions Al Ahly confirmed on Thursday that the football club has signed South African forward Percy Tau from English side, Brighton & Hove Albion.

Tau has reunited with coach Pitso Mosimane, under whom he thrived at Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa.

The Bafana Bafana player, who was largely overlooked at Brighton, did not hesitate to leave cold and grey England for the land of the Pharaohs.

South Africans fans have welcomed the move because Tau also known as the “Lion of Judah” will be guaranteed playing time at Al Ahly.

Earlier this month, KickOff reported that Ahly had reached an agreement to sign the South African talisman from Premier League outfit Brighton.

KickOff said the deal was worth €1.8-million (R31m), which will be paid over the duration of his contract

KickOff said it understood Tau agreed a two-year deal with an option of a third to finalise his move to the record ten-time African Champions.

The Seagulls initially asked for €4-million (R70m) but Ahly stood firm in negotiations with Director of Contracts Amr Tawfik and finally sealed Tau’s move with Brighton’s Dean Ashworth.
