Philanthropist, actress, and wife of billionaire Douw Steyn, Carolyn Steyn, has revealed that her husband’s dream of constructing a helistop on their property has come to reality.
Carolyn tweeted: “Opening of the stunning new Steyn City Ultimate Helistop! My husband’s dream realised and I am so, so proud of him!”
She also posted stunning pictures of the designated land area for the pickup of passengers.
Carolyn has previously opened up their grand Palazzo Steyn home to the public through the now discontinued television series Top Billing tour of their mansion. More recently she has given Jacaranda FM a similar tour.
The sprawling Johannesburg mansion is located within “Steyn City”, which now has an impressive helistop.
All services provided by Ultimate Heli are also available to non-residents, who can schedule or charter a flight to make a weekend getaway more enjoyable.
Flights can also be organised for time pressed business people who need to conduct regular site visits or simply to mark a special occasion such as an anniversary celebration mid-air with a bottle of bubbly.
“The building’s magnificent design mirrors the blades of a helicopter rotor,” adds architect Bryan Charters who worked closely with Ultimate HELI to ensure the building complied with international standards, and a touch of elegance has been added by leading interiors’ expert Stephen Falcke.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer Steyn City’s residents this one of a kind service, keeping our promise to deliver the best lifestyle estate in the world,” says Giuseppe Plumari – CEO of Steyn City Properties.
The world-class facilities include an 18-hole Nicklaus design championship golf course with an award-winning clubhouse.
It has a world-class equestrian centre, an indoor aquatic centre, a fully equipped gym, outdoor workout areas, resort pools, a flood-lit 45km promenade for walking and jogging any time of the day or night, and a 50km mountain bike trail.
Children are catered for with a Skate Park, a Dino Park and a number of play nodes.
Carolyn is the founder of 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day, an “initiative with a very big heart” which has attracted thousands of members worldwide.
“Stitch by stitch, we pledge to keep thousands upon thousands of people less fortunate than ourselves in South Africa and around the world warmer in all the winters to come in the name of our beloved Nelson Mandela,” is her promise.
