Temptation Island South Africa Debuts On Showmax
HUNGRY FOR LOVE: Temptation Island South Africa love seekers

Temptation Island South Africa will premiere on Showmax later this month.

The reality show features a diverse group of young attractive South Africans who will bare their souls in search of love in full view of a global audience.

Temptation Island South Africa follows four couples who are at a crossroads in their relationship.

The couples must decide if they want to commit to each other for the rest of their lives or go their separate ways.

They will spend a lavish vacation in Knysna, on the Garden Route in the Western Cape, where they will live separately.

The indecisive couples will be among 20 other attractive single men and women who are looking for love.

Show directors say this last taste of single life is intended to help the couples to deal with their most difficult relationship questions, such as “are we meant to be?” and “Is there someone better out there for me?”

Temptation Island South Africa is based on the international reality television format with local versions already aired in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Many versions of the hit show have been enjoyed worldwide success.

Handrie Basson, the founding partner and executive producer of Afrokaans Film & Television, which developed Temptation Island South Africa, says the local version will be unique.

“As universal as relationships, dating, and love are, Temptation Island South Africa will be filled with our people’s cultural nuances,” says Basson.

He says the show compels these couples to deal with their feelings, and he hopes that by doing so, it would hopefully inspire all those watching to do the same.

“South African audiences have proven a strong preference for unscripted reality formats over the years, and reality shows about relationships, dating, and love have secured their place in viewers’ hearts in recent years,” says Basson.

He is confident viewers will relate to the show’s “human content and emotion”.

Banijay Rights, which is distributing Temptation Island South Africa, says the Teen Choice-nominated pop culture sensation has been adapted 25 times and counting.

The first episode of Temptation Island South Africa will air on August 26, 2021.
