Friends and colleagues have posted touching messages of condolences on social media after journalist Ragani Achary succumbed to Covid-19 at the weekend.
Achary, a former head of input at eNCA, was remembered by colleagues for her empathy, warmth, and compassion.
More recently she was a senior copy editor at the SABC.
Achary was head of news on HOT 102.7FM when she succumbed to Covid-19 on Sunday at the age of 48.
“Ragani was a treasured colleague and the entire HOT 102.7FM family are devastated at her passing,” said Lloyd Madurai, managing director of HOT 102.7.
“We have lost a very dear colleague and friend, someone who was loved by all at the station and respected by her peers in the industry.”
She is survived by her husband Mark, sons Bradley and Kiren.
On Monday, health authorities in South Africa reported 7 983 new cases of Covid-19 for the latest daily count.
“Today 299 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 77 440 deaths,” said the department of health in a statement.
More than nine million people in South Africa have had a jab.
