BBC Moves To Stamp Out Hate On Its Platforms

BBC Sport has moved to clean up abuse on its social media platforms.

England’s EURO2020 loss in the final to Italy in a penalty shootout sparked racial abuse against the three players who missed – Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho.

British Premier Boris Johanson this week called for practical steps to stop racial abuse on social media; including banning the offender from attending football matches.

On Thursday the BBC said it wants its platforms to be respectful places for discussion, constructive criticism, debate, and opinion.

BBC Sport said it will block people bringing hate to its comment section and report serious offences to the authourities.

BBC Sport is also asking users of its platforms to police comments and report any expression of hate on the basis of race, colour, gender, nationality, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexuality, sex, age, or class.
