South Africa’s tennis ace Kgothatso ‘KG’ Montjane is playing in the Wimbledon final Sunday afternoon.
To get to the wheelchair tennis final, KG had to go past Japan’s Momoko Ohtani.
Today the challenge is different for the 5th ranked player in the world.
The 35-year-old Limpopo-born tennis ace faces world number one Diede de Groot from the Netherlands at 2 pm (SA time).
Win or lose KG will make history this afternoon by becoming the first black South African woman to reach a final at Wimbledon.
On Saturday, KG and her doubles partner Lucy Shuker from the UK lost to Japan’s Yui Kamiji, and Britain’s Jordanne Whiley 6-0, 7-6 in the women’s wheelchair doubles final.
